In cooperation with LibraryWorks, IBPA sends dedicated eBlasts containing only fifteen (15) member titles to a select group of 5,000 librarians, as well as to librarians who expressed interest in indie titles at IBPA's booth at the American Library Association annual conference over the past four years.
For this program, IBPA designs a targeted eBlast that includes your book's cover image, a 50-word description, wholesaler information, and a unique, lead-generating link of your choosing.
LibraryWorks then pulls a list of 5,000 librarians based on the criteria of each eBlast. Launching quarterly (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter), there are six categories of IBPA Library eBlasts:
- Elementary School Librarians
- Middle and High School Librarians
- College and Academic Librarians
- Public Library Children's and YA Librarians
- Public Library Adult Librarians - Nonfiction Focus
- Public Library Adult Librarians - Fiction Focus
The librarians who receive these eBlasts are all LibraryWorks subscribers who have provided information (location, branch, position, etc...) that allows LibraryWorks to organize them into the groups above.
Every librarian who clicks on your cover image or the title's MORE button is logged by LibraryWorks. This means that approximately 3-4 weeks after the e-blast is sent, IBPA receives a spreadsheet with that information. We share this list of leads with you, allowing you to follow up with the librarians who are interested in your title. It's a powerful way to grow your email marketing list!
The price for the Library Market eBlast is $199 per title, per eBlast for IBPA members.
Required materials -
After registering for this program, you will receive an email with a downloadable PDF explaining the next steps. This PDF will contain a link to an online form where you will enter your book information and upload your cover image. Please prepare these materials:
- Publisher name
- Title and subtitle
- 50 word description*
- ISBNs and Formats (up to 3)
- Wholesaler/Distributor (up to 3)
- Cover image (.jpg at 250 pixels wide for vertical rectangle format, 300 pixels wide for square format, and 350 pixels wide for horizontal rectangle format.)
- Web Link for MORE button**
*It is important to include parts of any significant reviews from the major trade media or influential and recognizable people in the description. If possible, a good review should take the place of a general description.
**At the end of each book's description, there will be a MORE button, which will take the librarian to the web page of your choice. It is suggested that you make it as easy as possible for the librarians to get the information about your book they need. The MORE button and the cover image will both link to the same URL.
What to expect -
As with all book marketing, results will vary. However, the average response to e-blasts of this nature is generally higher than other services and products sent to librarians. This is because the LibraryWorks list is an opt-in list -- every librarian on the list asked to be on the list. Response to these eBlasts generally range from 8-18%. For a deployment to 5,000 librarians, there will be approximately 400-900 leads across all fifteen (15) titles. Specific titles average between 20-40 leads, with the range being 4 on the low side and 405 on the high side.
