IBPA's Ask the Experts Online is now an inclusive General Discussion Board open to all IBPA members!
IBPA’s General Discussion Board connects you with other members who can answer your specific questions and, in the process, help other members as well. For 30 years, IBPA members have been "Helping Each Other to Achieve and Succeed." Now it’s even easier!
How it works
Log in to join the General Discussion Board then follow the instructions therein to ask (and answer) questions. IBPA members are encouraged to comment on your question, offering advice from their perspectives. Member comments are moderated to ensure appropriate, non-commercial advice is given in all cases.
In addition, IBPA has appointed several experts within each category which are called out via a pink star in the bottom corner of their photo, like so:
IBPA's experts come from every area of the industry. They include current and former IBPA Board members and Presidents, former and current Publishing University and Publishing University Online speakers, and others. Each expert works for an established company known by IBPA to provide good advice.

To ensure the best possible experience for all community members, we have established some very basic guidelines for participation. We're not trying to start a discussion about what the rules should be; we're only trying to explain what they are. BE POLITE. No personal attacks or rants. The discussions on the Group Discussion Forums are meant to stimulate conversation not to create contention. Let others have their say, just as you may.
DON'T SELL. Of course some of you have very valuable services to offer. Please don't use this space to overtly sell. We're creating a knowledge hub, not a promotions factory. You may contact people directly with product and service information if you believe it would help them.
DON'T PROMOTE. Messages should not contain promotional material, special offers, job offers, product announcements, or solicitation for services. IBPA reserves the right to remove such messages and potentially ban sources of those solicitations.
WATCH THE LANGUAGE. All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials are strictly prohibited and may be removed.
BE SPECIFIC. Please be specific with your questions. Provide context. In many cases, a good answer depends on a good question.
Transparency is very important in gaining trust in online relationships, therefore be clear who you are and who you work for when posting on any platform. This means including your real name on your profile along with disclosing your employer and using a profile picture of your likeness and not your company’s logo.
Be sure to keep your IBPA profile up to date so others can put your words in context. And, of course, you can link to your website and services in your profile if you'd like. Your profile can be accessed by signing into the IBPA website and going to 'My Profile' at the top of your screen (located next to 'My Feed' and 'Directory').
