FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Manhattan Beach, CA - April 24, 2018) -- The Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) – www.ibpa-online.org – announced this month the appointment of She Writes Press publisher and current IBPA board member Brooke Warner to the position of chairperson starting July 1, 2018. The position is a 1-year term, renewable upon IBPA board approval for a second year.

Brooke Warner was appointed chairperson of the IBPA board of directors starting July 1, 2018 following four years of service as an at-large director.

Warner is publisher of She Writes Press and SparkPress, president of Warner Coaching Inc., and author of Green-light Your Book, What's Your Book?, How to Sell Your Memoir, and the co-author of Breaking Ground on Your Memoir. Warner’s expertise is in traditional and new publishing. She is the former Executive Editor of Seal Press and, in addition to her service on the IBPA board of directors, currently sits on the boards of the Bay Area Book Festival and the National Association of Memoir Writers. She blogs actively on Huffington Post Books and SheWrites.com.

"Having had the honor to serve on the IBPA board of directors for the past four years and on the IBPA Executive Committee for the past two, I’m stepping into the chairperson position at what I know to be an exciting time for IBPA," said Warner. "IBPA is creating new initiatives and raising our members to the highest standards of book publishing. I look forward to what's to come in the year ahead."

Warner replaces outgoing IBPA chairperson Rob Price of Gatekeeper Press. Price steps down from the IBPA board after one year as chairperson, one year as treasurer, and four total years of IBPA board service. Price praised Warner’s hard work and leadership while serving on the IBPA board of directors.

"Brooke Warner is one of the most talented, professional, and inspirational people I have ever met. Her passion for publishing and her advocacy for independent publishers is unrivaled in our industry. Brooke has personally inspired me to become a better publisher and will soon be inspiring all of IBPA’s 3,000+ members," said Price.

  • Kelly Peterson, Director of Client Services, INscribe Digital, a division of Independent Publishers Group
  • Kathy Strahs, Founder, Burnt Cheese Press

"IBPA is privileged to have a Board composed of the best and brightest in independent publishing,” said IBPA CEO Angela Bole. "It’s an honor to welcome Brooke Warner to the position of chairperson, as well as the six at-large members. Each will be a tremendous help to IBPA as it grows membership and works to increase the influence of independent publishing.”
