We Need Diverse Books Opens Internship Grant Application (Deadline April 30th)

(Manhattan Beach, CA - February 17, 2020) -- Qualifying Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) members are encouraged to apply for the We Need Diverse Books (WNDB) Internship Grant Program prior to the April 30, 2020 application deadline.
This special program, fully supported by WNDB, provides supplemental grants to applicants from diverse backgrounds (including but not limited to LGBTQIA, Native, people of color, gender diversity, people with disabilities, and ethnic, cultural, and religious minorities) who wish to pursue a career in children’s publishing. Eligibility is subject to review by the WNDB Internship Committee. The chosen grant recipients will each receive $3,000.
- Applicant must identify as coming from a diverse background as defined in WNDB’s definition of diversity: diversebooks.org/about-wndb/
- Applicant must have received a paid internship offer from one of our Partner Publishers or Literary Agencies. See link below for a list of our Partners. The position must be at least half time, minimum wage based on the partner’s state requirements.
- For publishers, the internship must be exclusively in the children’s division. For literary agencies, the internship must have a focus on children’s publishing (spending at least 50% of the time on children’s books)
