(Manhattan Beach, CA – November 6, 2019) -- At 10:00 AM PST today (November 6, 2019), the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) is excited to launch the “Spread the Indie Love” bookseller sweepstakes. Continuing through September 29, 2020 at 5:00 PM PDT, this nationwide sweepstakes aims to build stronger connections between bookstores and independently published books.

As part of the sweepstakes, booksellers are asked to post a photo on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram of themselves in their store holding a copy of IBPA’s “Indie Titles for Your Consideration” bookstore catalog along with a book featured in that catalog. The photo must tag IBPA (@ibpa) and include the hashtags #ibpalovesindies and #sweepstakes.

Each post counts as a single sweepstakes entry. Over the course of four rounds (timed to the release of the Winter 2019/2020, Spring 2020, Summer 2020, and Fall 2020 IBPA bookstore catalogs) forty booksellers will each win a $100 gift card. The winners will be chosen at random from all valid entries in that round.

"The 'Spread the Indie Love' bookseller sweepstakes is a fun way for booksellers to let their community know they carry independently published books in their store, and for IBPA to say 'thank you!' in a significant way," said Lee Wind, director of marketing and programming for IBPA. "For bookstores, their booksellers, and IBPA members, it’s a win-win-win situation. And it helps get more wonderful indie books into readers’ hands. Another win!"

3,500 booksellers will learn about the sweepstakes on the back cover of IBPA’s Winter 2019/2020 bookstore catalog. Featuring an interracial gay romance by Heidi Cullinan titled The Doctor's Secret (Dreamspinner Press; ISBN 978-1641081009) on the front cover, IBPA's Winter 2019/2020 bookstore catalog highlights how indie books drive diversity. "I love the idea at the heart of the 'Spread the Indie Love' bookseller sweepstakes: indies supporting indies," said IBPA CEO Angela Bole. "IBPA is proud to sponsor this important sweepstakes and looks forward to broad participation from our bookseller friends.”
