A LETTER FROM IBPA CEO ANGELA BOLE
Dear IBPA Member:
I am writing to ask for your help in completing a critically important healthcare survey.
In April 2018, the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) began working in conjunction with eight other book industry associations in an attempt to identify options for association-sponsored health insurance/coverage that could serve our collective memberships. The associations working on this project include:
- American Booksellers Association
- American Society for Indexing
- Association of Authors Representatives
- Authors Guild
- Book Industry Study Group
- Children’s Book Council
- Independent Book Publishers Association
- Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America
Other associations are considering the project and may be added at a later date.
Until now, it's been hard for this group to identify a heathcare program we felt comfortable recommending to our members, both in terms of coverage and cost.
But that could be changing, and while we are still a long way from being able to announce association-sponsored health insurance/coverage, the time is right for the nine associations listed above to gather data from our memberships about the kind(s) of health insurance/coverage programs that would attract their participation.
To do this, we ask that you respond to this online survey. The survey can be completed in 10-15 minutes. Please complete the online survey by Monday, November 19, 2018. All data will be kept confidential and analyzed by a third party through Portland State University.
The survey is designed to assess your level of interest in association-sponsored health insurance/coverage programs as it's essential for the associations working on this project to have a better understanding about both the number of people we could conceivably include in a program and what these people think is a fair cost for participation.
To be sure, we don't know if there will be sufficient interest or -- even after collecting the data -- if we will be able to create an appropriate program. But receiving your responses to this survey is an important first step, and I sincerely hope you will help us in moving this forward.
All of the associations involved in this project know how important the issue of group health insurance is to our varied memberships, and we will certainly keep you informed as we proceed.
Thank you, in advance, for your time. I look forward to what might be possible here.
