Stephan von Clinkerhoffen is the author of the award-winning series The Hidden City of Chelldrah-ham.

Recently, IBPA member Stephan von Clinkerhoffen was honored by the Literary Classics Book Awards with two gold medals. His YA Fantasy Sci-Fi series The Hidden City of Chelldrah-ham received a gold award for Best Series for High School Age, and the first book in the series, Stig's Flight of Encounters, awarded gold in the Middle School Age category. Three years ago, Stephan made a decision that would heavily influence his work. He gave up his full-time job to volunteer for the New Zealand Red Cross, providing earthquake relief in Christchurch. "I found it almost impossible to paint realism whilst surrounded by so much sadness and destruction," Stephan explains. "So I created my own fantasy land and began writing." The series has received positive reviews and has been praised for its imaginative landscapes and diverse characters. The Hidden City of Chelldrah-ham series is currently available in paperback and on Kindle.

Sunacumen Press' Marj Charlier gave a presentation on the IBPA Industry Standards Checklist during the October 14 Indie Author Day fair at the Corona, CA Public Library. An audience of about 100 self-published authors and small publishers were in attendance, and Marj's presentation was met with with enthusiasm for our community's efforts to level the playing field for independent or non-traditional publishers. The event was sponsored by Inlandia Institute, an organization is dedicated to supporting and expanding literary activity in the Inland Empire. As an experienced member of the publishing industry, Marj has provided workshops through Inlandia to help educate new authors. Marj is also the author of multiple books, including Professional Lies, Graci's Revolution, and Drive for Dough.

Award-winning writer and IBPA member Anne Janzer.

Anne Janzer has recently been honored with a Non-Fiction - Writing/Publishing Gold Medal in the Readers' Favorites International Book Awards for her book The Writer's Process. The author and non-fiction writing coach has worked with over one hundred high tech businesses, helping them articulate their position to crowded markets. Anne is also an active blogger on her own site and a contributor for numerous corporate blogs. Her book provides techniques to help writers avoid common traps like social media or writer's block, and take advantage of inspiration without getting caught up in self-criticism. In a review for the title, Carla Trueheart raves, "It is very rare to come across a nonfiction book that grabs the reader and holds their attention as well as this one does." In addition to the Readers' Favorites award, The Writers' Process has also received a silver medal in the Foreword INDIES Adult Non-Fiction: Writing category.

The cover for Sharen S. Peters' award-winning children's book I'm Just a Little Someone.

Sharen S. Peters' children's title I'm Just a Little Someone, published by LifeLong Friends Publishers, is now in the hands of Former President and First Lady Barack and Michelle Obama. Last December, Sharen took a chance and sent her book to the Obamas. After a long wait, she recently received a wonderful thank you note from America's previous First Family! The book is a "feel good" story with uplifting illustrations by Amanda Alter, and is partially based on Sharen's own experiences of loneliness as a young child. "My hope is to reach lonely children all over the world and help them to learn that they too can make friends and live a fulfilled life. My focus is on homeschooled children, children in military families who travel often and live in many places, hospitals where children are often alone, and any other child facing loneliness or adversity." The book has been highly praised and has already been recognized with a Mom's Choice Gold Award.
