Cookbooks are big business. NPD Bookscan reported that “Cookbook category sales are rising faster than warm dough,” citing recent sales increases of 21% year over year.
To better understand how to succeed in this market, a panel of cookbook publishers will discuss elements of production, marketing, and share their best practices!
Kathy Strahs is an author publisher with three cookbooks out from her publishing company Burnt Cheese Press. Her debut, The 8x8 Cookbook, won the IBPA Benjamin Franklin Award™ (Gold Medal: Best First Book-Nonfiction), and her latest, The Lemonade Stand Cookbook, also won the IBPA Benjamin Franklin Award (Gold Medal: Young Reader: Nonfiction).
Scribe Publishing, an independent publisher with two cookbooks out and another on the way, is represented by Jennifer Baum, founder, publisher, acquisitions editor, and art director, as well as by Mel Corrigan, business and marketing manager.

About the Presenters:
Kathy Strahs is the award-winning author of The Lemonade Stand Cookbook, The 8x8 Cookbook, and The Ultimate Panini Press Cookbook. A former marketer with an MBA from Stanford, Kathy founded Burnt Cheese Press, a food-focused independent publishing company, in 2015. Kathy serves on the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) Board of Directors, has spoken at Publishing University, International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP), Watermark and TechMunch conferences, and has judged numerous cooking competitions. She lives with her husband and their two children in the Silicon Valley.
