California Writers Club Tri-Valley Branch is pleased to announce its third full-day Tri-Valley Writers Conference featuring keynote speaker Robert Dugoni.

Dugoni is a New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Amazon bestselling author as well as the winner of 2015 Nancy Pearl Award for fiction. Has twice been a finalist for the Harper Lee Award for Legal Fiction, twice been a finalist of the Silver Falchion Award for his mysteries, was a 2015 and 2017 International Thriller Writer’s finalist for thriller of the year, and a 2017 Mystery Writers of American Edgar Finalist. His books are sold worldwide in 30 countries and have been translated into a dozen languages. For more information on Dugoni’s current projects, visit www.robertdugonibooks.com.

In addition to Dugoni's keynote, attendees will hear IBPA CEO Angela Bole present the following two topics:

IBPA's Industry Standards Checklist for a Professionally Published Book
One of the things author publishers want to avoid is creating a book that looks like it was self-published. To a trained eye, the tells are obvious, but to those who are new to publishing or haven’t been exposed to the finer details, all that may be apparent is that it "just doesn’t look right." During this session, the CEO of the Independent Book Publishers Association will walk you through a easy-to-understand checklist describing how to produce a professional quality book.

Mastering Metadata and BISAC Subject Headings
Proper metadata is essential to ensuring your book is discoverable on the web. During this one hour session, you will gain a practical understanding of how to format and transmit metadata in accordance with industry standards and best practices. Particular attention will be paid to the structure of ONIX feeds and the assignment of BISAC Subject Headings. Attend this session if you are ready to demystify this often misunderstand standard and get it right the first time.
