About the Program:

Indie Bookstores and Indie Publishers/Indie Authors: How to Develop a Mutually Beneficial Relationship

As indies, we all face a similar struggle to get the attention of readers.

Indie booksellers want to carry diverse books, can't afford to stock books that won't sell, and are up against big box and online retailers.

Those very same online retailers can be good for indie publishers and indie authors, but indie publishers and authors also want to see their books getting distribution in the diverse world of indie bookselling, where handselling still reigns and customers trust their booksellers to lead them to good new reads.

How can we, the indies of the book publishing world, work together to help each other accomplish our goals? How can indie publishers and authors convince small and independent bookstores to stock and sell their books? And what can all parties do to help those books sell?

Can we make this a win/win/win for indie bookstores, indie publishers and authors, and readers?

In this webinar you will:

  • Get pointers on how to craft your promotion to get the attention of indie bookstore buyers;
  • Learn ways to create events that will entice independent bookstores to invite your authors to present at their stores;
  • Share strategies for how to make those indie publisher and author events succeed;
  • Gain a mutual understanding toward growing a mutually beneficial relationship.

Can’t attend this webinar live? Sign up anyway and watch the recorded session at a time suitable to you. Everyone who registers will receive an email with the video recording of the webinar and a copy of the presenter slides by the end of Friday, December 14, 2018.

*Please note that registrations received after 9:30am Pacific the morning of the webinar won't receive the WebEx log in instructions in time to attend live, but will receive the full video recording and presenter slides when they are sent out the Friday after the webinar.*
