About the Program:

Publishers of all sizes can benefit from broadening their perspective on what it means to “publish” by looking beyond the standard channels of print and eBook sales to distributors, bookstores, and consumers. Licensing rights to parts of your books – or indeed licensing the whole book - to audio publishers and distributors, to digital course providers, and to publishers around the world who translate books into their local languages, can be a source of additional promotion and income. This webinar will cover:

  • Do your books ‘work’ for other formats and markets?
  • Who to pitch and how.
  • Why do this, AKA the joy of working with others
  • The art of negotiation.
  • Contracts and royalties and record keeping.
  • Tools and timing.

Publishers will walk away with new rights licensing goals and strategies to achieve them.

Can’t attend this webinar live? Sign up anyway and watch the recorded session at a time suitable to you. Everyone who registers will receive an email with the video recording of the webinar and a copy of the presenter slides.

About the Presenter:

Get to know Kris Kliemann, President, Kliemann & Company LLC!

Kris Kliemann is the President of Kliemann & Company LLC, where she advises companies on strategic approaches to licensing rights, permissions and other copyright and intellectual property for maximum reach and revenue. Her current clients include IPR License, the official rights and licensing solution for Frankfurt Book Fair, a fully transactional rights and licensing marketplace, where buying and selling publishers trade rights internationally. Prior to forming her own consulting firm, Kris was Vice President, Director of Global Rights, with Wiley Inc., where she led a large team with sales, marketing and operations members located in US, UK, and Asia.

Before Wiley, Kris worked in a variety of publisher positions with responsibility for managing editorial, creative and marketing teams, in addition to rights. From Random House/Fodor’s Travel to Hyperion/Disney, to Farrar, Straus & Giroux, her copyright and licensing experience enabled her to work on print and digital deals for a wide range of authors with a broad spectrum of companies around the world. She’s passionate about Licensing as an important source of income and promotion for books and takes every chance she can to talk about this often-overlooked area of publishing.
