Six Director Candidates, Chosen by IBPA’s Board Nominating Committee, Will Stand for Election to the IBPA Board on March 22
As announced on December 10, 2013, IBPA’s Board Nominating Committee has been busy reviewing applications for the IBPA Board of Directors.
Over thirty (30) applications were received for six (6) available seats. After vetting all candidates, the Board Nominating Committee named the following director candidates to stand for election to two-year terms (2014-2016) on the IBPA Board:
- Brenda Avadian, North Star Books
- Jim Milliot, Publishers Weekly
- Shannon Okey, Cooperative Press
- Rob Price, Price World Publishing
- Mark Suchomel, Legato Publishers Group
- Brooke Warner, She Writes Press
The names above will appear on the Board Ballot for membership vote during the March 22, 2014 Annual Membership Meeting scheduled during IBPA’s Publishing University in San Francisco, California.
With so many qualified applications, selecting only six candidates was a difficult decision for the Board Nominating Committee. We’re very grateful to them for their thoughtful leadership.
In addition to thanking the Board Nominating Committee, we owe a debt of gratitude to IBPA’s outgoing Board members. These include:
- Davida G. Breier, Johns Hopkins University Press
- Roy Carlisle, The Independent Institute
- Dr. Haki Madhubuti, Third World Press
- John Mutter, Shelf Awareness
Additional Information: Under the IBPA Bylaws, in addition to candidates put forth by the Board Nominating Committee and approved by the Board, IBPA members representing two percent (2%) of the voting power (i.e., no less than 58 members) may nominate candidates for directorships at any time before the 30th day preceding such election. On timely receipt of a petition signed by the required number of members, the IBPA Secretary will cause the names of the candidates to be placed on the Board Ballot along with those candidates named by the Board Nominating Committee.
