“I enjoy seeing the dreams of other writers being fulfilled.”
Why did you become a book publisher? I've always been very passionate about writing. Initially it began as an outlet of emotions to pore out on paper. The pen being my best friend but eventually that changed and today it is made itself something way bigger than I'd ever imagined it to be. I am a poet and have been writing poems for over 8years now. with 2 books under my belt, the first one was self published in 2010 but I discontinued with it. Now, the 2nd book came out last year in July 2013 and a book launch was held for the book in Kitab Khana, Fort Mumbai. Due to the tumultuous response from a small group of book lovers this dream has taken a different shape where I welcome other Indian Poet's to come forward and get their work published with me i.e. under the title of Poet's Choice. I'm on the verge of coming up with my next book in association with an author from Kolkata, India who has had his first book published already and this would be his 2nd book. I'm also constantly welcoming new authors...
What do you like best about publishing? I enjoy seeing the dreams of other writers being fulfilled. and it is for this reason I'm using my title " Poet's Choice" as a platform for all Indian Poet's to come forward and have their poems reached out to the world. Maybe, eventually it will be available to poets from other parts of the world too. Publishing brings me the appreciation and love from the people.
What do you publish? Poetry
What is the most effective form of marketing for your press? I believe the most effective form of writing will be via Online Websites such as Flipkart and Amazon.
How do you define a successful title? A successful title gets its definition from the appreciation that people give it by reading the book and spreading the word about it by word of mouth thus enhancing the chances of greater popularity and awareness.
Tell us about one of your titles about which you are especially proud. The title I will be especially really proud of is in the making right now. I will soon be approaching an apt publisher and get it out. It is a biography of a very special person, as much as I learn about that person the journey gets more interesting and fascinating by the day.
What has been your biggest challenge in achieving success? My biggest challenge has been getting distribution services for my books. Reaching out to the public and spreading awareness about the book being available.
What advice do you have for newcomers to book publishing? Never Pay for getting an ISBN. Always choose to Self Publish a title if you think it is truly worth it and not judge the quality of your work by mounting burden of dozen rejections.
How will you and your company be positioned in five years? amongst one of the Leading ones for Indian Poets.
When you're not fully immersed in publishing, what do you do for fun? I travel, social network and hang around with like minded friends.
