“PictureAscripture.com is a company for promoting my book, The Holy Spirit in the New Testament, which I published to spread the Gospel message, to honor the Holy Spirit and illustrate God’s plan for salvation. I also had it on my heart to give artists who paint prophetically and inspirationally (including myself) an opportunity to share their art work with other believers. “
Why did you become a book publisher? PictureAscripture.com is a company for promoting my book, The Holy Spirit in the New Testament, which I published to spread the Gospel message, to honor the Holy Spirit and illustrate God's plan for salvation. I also had it on my heart to give artists who paint prophetically and inspirationally (including myself) an opportunity to share their art work with other believers.
What do you like best about publishing? Spreading the Gospel message and hearing from others how beautiful the book looks and how magnificent the paintings are!
What do you publish? The Holy Spirit in the New Testament.
What is the most effective form of marketing for your press? I am waiting for the Holy Spirit to show me the strategies!
How do you define a successful title? It should be catchy, relevant, descriptive of the content and induce the observer to open the cover.
Tell us about one of your titles about which you are especially proud. The Holy Spirit in the New Testament is a 412 page, 9 x 12 inch hard cover coffee table book featuring 269 illustrated Bible scriptures illuminating the nature, purpose and activity of the Holy Spirit in the Church Age. 84 artists, digital artists and photographers from all over the United States, Canada and Europe combine their extraordinary talents and diversity in this inspired collection of more than 600 original paintings and images honoring the Holy Spirit in His participation in the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus, the Gospel Message, the beginning of the Church, and God’s plan for the salvation of Jews and Gentiles. Taken from 7 different Bible versions, these Scriptures are organized into 16 chapters, from the announcements of the birth of John and of Jesus through the messages to the 7 Churches in Revelation, with chapters on the Holy Spirit Promised, the New Birth, the New Covenant, Love, Spiritual Gifts, Sin and the flesh, Righteousness, A Clear Conscience, etc.
What has been your biggest challenge in achieving success? Overcoming other people's negative opinions and advice. In fact, I was pressured by the leadership of the Church I was a member of at the time to stop writing it and left that very night! You have to obey your heart and pursue your dream and expect opposition and be prepared to fight against it to bring your vision into reality!
What advice do you have for newcomers to book publishing? Finish the book! Do it, and you'll figure out how to sell it later! Don't care about what other people think or say, just do it!
How will you and your company be positioned in five years? I will be selling millions of books, my own and other Christian authors, illustrated by Christian artists and honoring God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, and products like coffee mugs, popcorn cans, shower curtains, bath mats, placemats, trays, cutting boards, mouse pads, desk clocks, T-shirts and apparel, towels, blankets, photo crystals, notebooks and journals, canvases, fine art prints, tiles, etc. !
When you're not fully immersed in publishing, what do you do for fun? This seems to be all I do. And I go to Perry Stone conferences in Cleveland, TN, and fellowship with other believers. I am a pastel artist and am always thinking about new projects. I read the Bible every day and watch DVD's and listen to CD's and read books by Perry Stone, Lance Wallnau, Joyce Meyer, Bill Cloud, Jonathan Cahn, Sean Bolz, Sean Smith, Chuck Pierce and others.
