Why did you become a book publisher? I was writing a book about the digital television revolution and its impact on the media business, and I wanted to retain creative control of my book.

What do you like best about publishing? Creative and business control over my product (my book)

What do you publish? Televisionaries is the captivating inside story of the digital television revolution, featuring the engineers, entrepreneurs, and media titans who made it happen. It's a narrative, nonfiction account of the twenty-five year trajectory of digital TV since its invention by General Instrument in San Diego in 1990. It deals with technology, political, and business issues, including where the media business is headed next.

What is the most effective form of marketing for your press? So far, social media such as Facebook and direct marketing. I'd like to find a distributor for broader distribution.

How do you define a successful title? Recognized by authorities in the field as an important contribution.

Tell us about one of your titles about which you are especially proud. Televisionaries, the captivating inside story of the digital television revolution.

What has been your biggest challenge in achieving success? Getting the word out! Much easier said than done!

What advice do you have for newcomers to book publishing? Explore your options, talk to people who have published, and consider the tradeoffs, of which there are many. It's a complicated business.

How will you and your company be positioned in five years? Authority in the complex relationship between technology and media content.

When you're not fully immersed in publishing, what do you do for fun? I love skiing, surfing, and tennis.
