“Favorite thing about publishing: Hearing good things about my products.”
Why did you become a book publisher? Because I thought I could do it better than hooking up with a publishing house.
What do you like best about publishing? Hearing good things about my products.
What do you publish? Depression Carpenter (histfic); Triptych (chicklit, humor); Cowgirl (Western, humor); Commune (humor); On Becoming a Dinosaur (memoir)
What is the most effective form of marketing for your press? Let me know when you find it. It's a mystery to me.
How do you define a successful title? When you are your own client and publisher, success is subjective.
Tell us about one of your titles about which you are especially proud. Out of all my titles, my favorite is Commune. It's a good job of ensemble fiction and a humorous look at a commune as a social experiment.
What has been your biggest challenge in achieving success? Lack of name recognition.
What advice do you have for newcomers to book publishing? Keep your day job.
How will you and your company be positioned in five years? Hopefully, better.
When you're not fully immersed in publishing, what do you do for fun? I'm an animal mommy and a photographer. I also love a good road trip.
