Why did you become a book publisher? I was frustrated and tired of the difficulties and delays in dealing with established publishing houses and decided to self-publish.
What do you like best about publishing? I love the fact that I get to control the artistic aspects of my writing including titles and cover design, etc.
What do you publish? History and historical fiction.
What is the most effective form of marketing for your press? Networking.
How do you define a successful title? One that tells the potential reader enough of the subject to allow them to categorize the book and evocative enough to peak their interest.
Tell us about one of your titles about which you are especially proud. Armageddon on Blue Water; The Naval War in the Pacific.
What has been your biggest challenge in achieving success? Developing an effective marketing platform.
What advice do you have for newcomers to book publishing? Set up a sound business plan and follow it but review it for change when it isn't working as you had hoped.
How will you and your company be positioned in five years? With three to five titles in print and the establishment of name recognition among my potential readers.
When you're not fully immersed in publishing, what do you do for fun? Backpacking, hunting and building historical models.
