“I had done several cookbook translations for other companies and decided I wanted to produce translation of cookbooks myself. “
Why did you become a book publisher? I had done several cookbook translations for other companies and decided I wanted to produce translation of cookbooks myself.
What do you like best about publishing? I anticipate enjoying a cultural exchange through publishing cookbooks from foreign countries and languages into English.
What do you publish? Non-fiction genres related to culinary arts: cookbooks, DIY, and relevant history.
What is the most effective form of marketing for your press? We have yet to find out for sure, but we think it will be through blogs and social media.
How do you define a successful title? I still use recipes from a cookbook that was first printed in 1978, so I'd say a book that continues to provide value long after its print date.
Tell us about one of your titles about which you are especially proud. We are still working on building our list.
What has been your biggest challenge in achieving success? We expect the greatest challenges to be related to little experience in publishing.
What advice do you have for newcomers to book publishing? I am a newcomer myself, so I look forward to reading advice from more experienced people and seeing what works best for us. Once we get a few years behind us, we'll be happy to share our experience in the hope that it will help someone else.
How will you and your company be positioned in five years? We hope to be positioned as a leading provider of international knowledge of food related crafts.
When you're not fully immersed in publishing, what do you do for fun? Spending time with family and enjoying food from various heritage festivals in our area, preferably at the same time.
