empire1The State University of New York Librarians Association (SUNYLA) will be co-hosting their  annual conference with the NY 3Rs, the Academic and Special Libraries Section of the New York Library Association, and the New York State Higher Education Initiative this year. With the goal of fostering stronger academic library collaborations in New York State, this week-long extravaganza, titled Empire Collaborations, is scheduled for June 9 through June 13, 2014 at the University at Albany.

Empire Collaborations will include:

— Guest speakers: Gregory Maguire (Wicked), Barbara Stripling (ALA president), and Maureen Sullivan (former ALA President)

— A Thursday evening cruise along the scenic and historic Hudson River

— Over 400 librarians/ library professionals who will discuss library initiatives, innovative resources, new instructional techniques, and emerging technologies

Publishers Playhouse (FREE, Friday, June 13th, 2:30-3:00PM)

— Publishers and other reading organizations will receive a FREE exhibit table to put books, ARCs , posters and other giveaways with (or without) a representative

— Author signings
