BISG’s “Making Information Pay” Needs Your Input, Book Business Conference Upcoming

March 4, 2010

BISG wants to hear from independent publishers and following is what they want to know:   “On May 6, 2010, the Book Industry Study Group’s 7th annual Making Information Pay event will address the technological “points of no return” currently facing our industry and identify the new technologies dictating advanced ways in which books—both digital and physical—are being acquired, produced, distributed, marketed and sold.

Leading up to the program, you’re invited to participate in the conversation by helping BISG identify the degree to which you feel traditional publishing practices are under pressure to change. How do we know when systemic change is actually happening? What are the indicators? What are the responses that make a difference in managing the challenges and opportunities to profitable result?”  Even if you’re not planning to attend the conference, it only takes a few minutes to fill out the survey–and give the industry the benefit of YOUR vision.  And if you are planning to attend, BISG is offering IBPA members  significant savings–the BISG member rate for the 4 hour program. But you must register through the IBPA office to get the special rate. Visit BISG for more information about the conference and visit IBPA to register.

As a final reminder, the Publishing Business Conference & Expo, one of North America’s largest conferences for book and magazine publishers, starts March 8 and will feature more than 50 sessions for magazine and book publishing executives and an exhibit hall showcasing nearly 100 industry-leading solution and service providers. IBPA members can pick up discount codes at the IBPA website and register here . For those of you who are unable to attend, I will be onsite at the Conference and reporting back on the highlights.
