“Led by gains in print formats, sales of adult trade books rose 10.9% in October over October 2013, according to figures released in AAP’s monthly StatShot program. In the adult segment, sales of hardcovers rose 14%, trade paperback sales increased 14.6%, and mass market paperback sales rose 9.9% over October 2013. E-book sale fell 1.7%. In the children’s/YA category, sales rose 16.5% in October driven by an 86.5% increase in board book sales. E-book sales increased 4.5%. Through October, adult trade sales were down 0.8% compared to the same period in 2013. Sales of e-books were flat at $1.07 billion, while sales of hardcovers and mass market paperbacks were down 5.5% and 5.0%, respectively. Trade paperback sales were up 1.7%. Sales for all the 1,209 publishers who reported revenue to the AAP rose 11.9% in the month and 5.5% in the January-October period….”
