The Independent Book Publishers Association welcomes applications for positions on its board of directors, which is a working board with two-year terms. Directors are expected to serve on committees, attend four meetings a year, and represent the best interests of IBPA’s 3,200+ members.
Any IBPA member may apply on behalf of himself, herself or someone else for consideration by the Nominating Committee as a candidate for election to the board by filling out and submitting an application form. At least two-thirds of the directors must be Publisher members of the IBPA, but the other one-third may be individual members, associate members or non-members. The Nominating Committee --- comprised of past board chairs, the current board chair, the executive director, the President, past IBPA board members and current board members --- reviews applications and selects qualified candidates for nomination.
Candidates can also be nominated directly by members under certain circumstances. Please consult Section 7.1 of the current Bylaws for a complete description of the nominating process. Nominees are voted upon at the IBPA Annual Meeting (typically during a luncheon at the IBPA Publishing University). Potential candidates may be asked for a personal interview in addition to the written application.
Deadline for nominations: April 15, 2010.
